Discussion questions
An understanding of issues like these is foundational to effective web evangelism.
These questions are for personal or group use. No doubt there are many others you can
add yourself.
- How is the Web different from other types of media?
- What are its strengths and weaknesses as a communication medium?
- Find worldwide access statistics for the Web. Why has it grown so quickly?
- In what ways are the digital revolution and the Internet changing culture and communication?
- Study the Gray Matrix.[ied.gospelcom.net/gray-matrix.php] How can it help us choose
appropriate styles of outreach, both online and offline?
- Discuss the potential of the Web to reach into hard countries – for instance those in the
‘10-40 Window’?
- Take time to view a number of church websites. Find some that are welcoming and accessible
to non-Christian website visitors. What factors make them so? If you have time, use these
church-site questions.
- View/read the several testimonies of people whose conversion was
mediated, at least in part, by the Internet. Are there any common factors in the spiritual
journeys of these people? What elements seem to stand out strongly?
- Study some ‘Bridge Strategy’ sites. How are they making the transition to an explanation of
the Gospel?
- Summarize in your own words the best way to write testimonies that can reach non-Christians,
based on the lessons in Angie’s Story.[ied.gospelcom.net/angie.php]
- Analyze the positioning of some Christian websites using the X-Spectrum.[http://ied.gospelcom.net/x-spectrum.php]
- Look also at the questions
relating to Jay’s Story.http://ied.gospelcom.net/jaystory.php]
